With the mission to reduce our local infant mortality rates as our top priority, the Healthy Start Coalition of Okaloosa and Walton Counties set out to address accidental causes of death among children and infants. Our goal with this initiative is to educate our community and provide preventative tips to caregivers in a way that is creative and effective. Topics covered include hot car child safety, water safety, safe sleep, shaken baby syndrome, and no masks for babies.
Another way that we have shared health and safety education throughout the two counties is with billboards. The Healthy Start Coalition purchased billboard space in Crestview, Fort Walton Beach and Freeport from July to October of 2020 and shared the following health messages.
The following Public Service Announcements were written by the Healthy Start Coalition and Recorded by Cumulus Broadcasting and played over local area radio stations. We are grateful for our partnership with Cumulus Broadcasting and their support in relaying these safety messages to the public on a large scale.
